Paragliding, surfers, des centaines d'escaliers, l'humidité et mon frere

Slow start today. Met 2 Canadians at breakfast who spent 2 months working in the jungle. Lots of stories to tell ... the moral of the story being that it's the little things that are dangerous, the small insects you can hardly see and the plants you may rub against.
Brel and I spent the day at the beach. Watching the paragliders fly and spread their wings over the ocean and the mountains. A gorgeous sight. Some kind of fantastic dance, the incredible lightness of being. Couldn´t help think about Leonardo's drawings for flying machines. Et moi qui ai toujours voulu voler. Mais la trouille était plus forte que tout. Peut être un de ces 4...
And the surfers in their skin suits. Brel was dying to go for a swim but it´s already so cold here out of the water. Can't even imagine the temperature in there. Apparently the sun never shines in Lima at this time of the year. And it's constantly misty and grey. The streets are always wet but it doesn't rain, it's that crazy mist. The cold passes through all your layers. Haven't taken my hoody off yet. Not even to sleep.
Et puis tous ces escaliers. Pour arriver jusqu'a l'eau, il fallait marcher, marcher et marcher et prendre des centaines d'escaliers ... digne du tableau d'Escher avec les escaliers qui vont dans tous les sens. Qui montent et qui descendent sans jamais arriver a un but précis... Et Brel n'était pas tres content ... et puis il a réussit et tout allait mieux. Peut-être qu'il deviendra un bon marcheur apres tout (ojala!).
Et on a croisé une petite réplique du Parc Guel (le parque de Gaudi a Barcelone). El parque del amor, tout en mosaiques et décoré de citations d'amour des grands auteurs latino-américains... et tous ces Péruviens qui essaient (en cachette quand même) de se bécoter sur les bancs publiques ...
Et puis LA QUESTION qui revient sans cesse pendant ce voyage. ES TU HERMANO? me demandant bel et bien si Brel est mon frere. Je n'avais pas pensé a celle-la!
